Happy Halloween from Colegio Menor!

Happy (belated) Halloween!  Even though Halloween is not a big holiday here (kids don't really dress up or trick-or-treat), a teacher from Colegio Menor's Upper School hosted a party for teachers and their kiddos.  It was nice to have some acknowledgement of the holiday and see some Ecuadorians go all out with their costume.

We (on the other hand) went for a simple and easy costume.  We didn't pack a lot of our usual costume materials and purchasing options here were limited.  In the end, we went with simple but funny (and it was all Javier's idea...).  Can you guess what we are?
I'm a green-GA and Javier is a green-GO....get it?  (Gringa and gringo...its puny)
Here are some other costumes from the night.  Like I said...some teachers did a really amazing job!

Andrew and Whitney were Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
some red syringe shots and pumpkin for decor
and a chocolate worm cake
and Amy came as Superwoman
The four musketeers!  They ended up carrying their swords in their boots.
Jorgi came as Alexander the Great. (He ordered it off Amazon and claims that they'll deliver here in Ecuador...so I'll be investigating that...)
Madison was a prego lady (in a group costume) but we were all surprised at how easily she took to the big belly
Kim came as Madonna and rocked it!  And Tania is Rosie the Riveter!
The art department came as comic characters (even dotting their skin to look like newspaper print)
And Michael shaved his head to star as Walter White in the Breaking Bad crew.  Then there is Javier Garcia on the left as Jesse, Peter in the suit and perfect tie as Saul and Madison as a pregnant Skyler White.
The party was pretty far away from Quito (deeper into the valley from school) but the locals gave us expats a ride to get out there.  It was really nice to hang out with some teachers and enjoy some food and drink.  And dancing...the Ecuadorians looooove to dance!  Hope you each enjoyed your Halloween celebrations!
